Francis O. Mensah
Rev. Francis O. Mensah moved to the Washington, DC, metropolitan area in August 1988, where he was employed as an account representative for a major food corporation. For the past 14 years, he has worked as a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. With a heart for youth, he served as a youth group coordinator and retreat facilitator for a DC-based Christian youth program. The impact of these retreats was times where he truly felt God calling him to reevaluate his walk and faith and challenged him to develop a more personal relationship with him. In August 1992, he exchanged vows with his beautiful wife, Treva, who has been his soul mate, companion and friend. They have been blessed with two wonderful daughters, Summer and Riley. The family joined the Tree of Life Christian Ministries in the summer of 1995. From day one, Francis began to feel a tug on his heart like never before, as if God was calling him to another level. For the first time in his life, he was being taught God’s word. He resisted God’s call for a while, because of the strong ties of tradition which had him bound. But God said: “Step out on faith.” Through the power of the Holy Spirit and an ever humble heart, he knows that any ministry he serves will be impacted by God’s will first and his will second. He was ordained as an Elder in January 2004, and as a Minister in March of 2007.
Rev .Francis currently heads the Tree of Life Drama Department and sings in the choir. He has directed and acted in several plays. In addition, he wrote “The Corner,” which was presented in celebration of the church’s ninth anniversary, and co-wrote “The Value of Your Calling,” for the church’s eleventh anniversary celebration. He believes that anyone called to lead any ministry must first become a servant leader for the Lord. The Lord simply asks for a willing heart.
