Timothy Boyd

Rev. Timothy J. Boyd was born in Winnsboro, SC, on April 24, 1924. He was one of 11 siblings born to Dennis and Minnie Inez Jackson Boyd. Rev. Tim, as he is affectionately known, heard God’s calling to be a preacher at a very young age. His grandfather laid hands on him and prayed for him to become a preacher. When he was six years old, he went to a friend of his father’s house where he preached his first sermon on faith and love. They gave him an offering of 35 cents, which his mother used to purchase material and made a white suit for him. In the very early stages of his calling, he would often preach to his sisters, brothers or anyone who would listen. He was also a very capable athlete, known for his outstanding baseball skills as a catcher and manager. He later met his beautiful wife Rosetta Willingham, while “hanging out” at Allen University, in Columbia, SC, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. They married and moved to the Washington, DC/Virginia area. After relocating, Rev. Boyd continued his quest to help change lives. His ministry continued to grow while he maintained his construction company called Boyd Construction. In the 1960’s, he founded and pastored the Revival Center in Alexandria, VA. In 1966, he was licensed at St. John Baptist Church in Alexandria, VA. As an ordained Baptist Minister, he was affiliated with several other churches in the Alexandria area, among them Peoples Church in Washington, DC, where he was an Associate Pastor. In the 1970s, he accepted the pastoral position at Free Union Baptist Church, in Culpepper, VA. He ministered there for many years and decided to step down in the late 1980s. Wearing many hats in his semi-retirement, in 1985 he was named an associate chaplain for television station WHUR and recited the daily sign off prayer. He currently fellowships and serves on the pastoral staff as an Associate Minister at the Tree of Life Christian Ministries, in Alexandria, VA. Timothy and Rosetta have five beautiful children: the Rev. Dr. Carolyn, pastor of The Spirit of Truth Center, Joyce a principal in Prince William County, Timmy, a retired Navy petty officer, Titus, a construction entrepreneur, and Loretta, a federal Executive Officer at the Pentagon. He also has a supportive son-in-law, Tommy Henderson. Rev. Boyd is a powerful man of God. His strong faith and powerful prayers have touched many lives and brought deliverance to a multitude of people in need. Rev. Boyd is kind hearted, humorous, loving, and giving. His grandkids constantly tell him, he is the coolest granddad in the world. His gospel motto is; with God everything is possible. He is a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He would like people to know that he is truly blessed and strives to be a blessing to others. At the age of 80, he is still asked to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Rev. Boyd resides in Alexandria, VA, with his wife Rosetta Willingham Boyd.
